a study in: the weight of legacy, tragedy runs in her veins, she's magic, a witch without a coven, just like her dad, forging her own path, heartbreak kid, fear of failure, becoming a hero her own way, she's a genius, devil in heels
TRIGGER WARNINGS:
death of a parent, drug addiction, alcholism, mental illness, death of a girlfriend, mentions of inebriated driving, grief, mentions of sexualition by the mediaCharacter Rules:
1. Knowledge of Morgan's Witch Status - Morgan keeps the fact that she has powers and that she's a witch a secret from the majority of the world. The only people who know that she has powers are Pepper, Happy, Strange, Wong, people who can sense magic, and anyone in Morgan's close circle. Other than that? No, your character won't know she has powers.2. The Multiverse - Multiple versions of the same character are welcome! I am very open to figuring out how to get Morgan to explore the multiverse. With her being a witch and only knowing the basics of magic, a spell gone awry or something is very possible. Or a piece of tech gone wrong because, magic or not, she is still a Stark!

Morgan Howard Stark was born to Tony Stark and Pepper Potts on October 15, 2019. She was the first child of a two children plan and was originally expected to be a male, due to the Stark genetics usually producing only male children. However, they chose to keep the gender a surprise even from themselves, settling on a unisex first name just in case. One thing that Tony insisted on was that, male or female, this child was going to carry Howardâs name as their middle name.
The day of Morganâs birth came a full two weeks earlier than originally expected. Pepper, being Pepper, worked until the day that the doctor ordered her into bed rest a full two months before the birth. Tony instantly flew into action, having over prepared for this ( and every other ) situation. Pepper was taken to the best hospital in New York City and was given top knotch care, which helped make the childbirth far easier for both Pepper and Tony.
Eight hours of rough labor later, Morgan was finally born. Pepper expected some pushback or disappointment from Tony because she knew how much heâd been expecting a boy, but he surprised her. Tony was absolutely over the moon that he had a daughter, especially one who was so healthy and bright. He kept claiming that she was a little genius already, despite just being brought into this world kicking and screaming.
A few months later, a nanny was hired so that Pepper could go back to work. The nanny was heavily vetted and was asked to sign an NDA in order to keep Morgan, and the two adult Starksâ comings and goings, very private. The nanny also had to stay away from Tonyâs lab and wasnât allowed to object if he chose to spend any breaks that he took from his projects to spend time with his daughter. To their relief, the nanny ( whose name was Elizabeth Albertson ) was the absolute perfect person for the job.
Tonyâs excited delivery room proclamations about Morgan being a genius were eventually proven correct. As Morgan started to grow and develop, she mentally developed at a quicker rate than children her age. Testing proved that she definitely had a higher IQ than other children her age, so Tony, Pepper, and Elizabeth began developing plans and finding things to keep Morgan mentally and physically stimulated in order to keep her on that curve. They put her in various classes and programs, such as dancing, swimming, and child STEM classes. She took to all of these like a duck to water, constantly happily babbling about everything that sheâd learned that day. Everything seemed to be perfect and the family was happy, until the day that tragedy struck.
Elizabeth was in a car crash on her way to the Stark residence shortly before Thanksgiving of the year that Morgan turned three. Due to having her youngest child still in the house, she refused the Starksâ offer to move in with them and refused their offer to get her an apartment close by. She was bound and determined to stay in the apartment that she was currently in so that her youngest could finish school with his friends. It meant a bit of a long commute, but Elizabeth was happy to do it because she loved Morgan and the Starks treated her ( and her family ) better than any other employer ever had.
Tony and Pepper were devastated and Morgan was confused about why âLizzieâ wasnât around any longer. They tried to explain it to her in a way that she could understand, but Morgan still wasnât quite at that age that she could grasp it. She constantly asked where Lizzie was, why she wasnât with her anymore. Eventually, Morgan began to understand that something bad had happened and that Lizzie was gone gone. She became very sad and despondent to the point that not even her programs and classes could help. She also began having nightmares where she woke up screaming and crying, begging for Lizzie. They took her to a child psychologist who began working with Morgan and, slowly, it began to help.
When they saw Morgan brightening up again and taking interest in everything, Tony and Pepper agreed that it was time to try a new nanny. They did the same heavy vetting that they had with Elizabeth and eventually found a lovely young woman, Anya Valentine. She was younger than Elizabeth and had no family, so she was happy to move into the Stark home. Anya worked on becoming friends with Morgan, knowing about the loss and easing herself into Morganâs routine so that it didnât look like she was trying to take Elizabethâs place. Tony and Pepper were relieved to see that Morgan soon trusted and liked Anya and began to relax, something that would be a mistake.
Shortly before Morganâs third birthday, she experienced her very first kidnapping. Anya ( who was a former member of the Black Widow Program ) was working for one of Tonyâs enemies and was paid very handsomely to earn Morganâs trust before snapping her up. The plan was to jam the trackers in the car, sedate Morgan, and take the car to a safe place to switch her over to another form of transport and then take her to a safe house until the ransom was paid.
They were successful for a total of six hours before the safe house was stormed by a team led by Natasha Romanoff. Anya tried to escape, but was quickly captured by her fellow former Widow Program member. Morgan was promptly taken to the hospital where she was reunited with Tony and Pepper. The doctors gave her a clean bill of health and sent her home with Tony and Pepper with the recommendation that they put her in therapy as soon as possible. Thankfully, Morgan was sedated for most of the experience and remembered next to nothing.
It was this incident that sparked Tony and Pepperâs desire to move their main residence somewhere isolated that could be far more easily defended if anyone tried to harm them again. Morgan absolutely loved moving to the cabin because she got to play outside all the time now, rather than just when Tony or a nanny took her out to the park. Despite the fact that the commute to the things that Morgan was involved in was a little further, Morgan didnât mind it. She loved the transition from nature into the city and Tony thought it was good for her. Tony also allowed her into his lab more often, although he really had no choice when she figured out how to sneak her way in there anyway.
This was where they were living when Rogers, Romanoff, Lang, and the others showed up to discuss the time travel thing with Tony. Morgan was intrigued, and a little scared, with the strangers but Pepper wouldnât let her talk to them. She didnât understand the tension that had now sprung up between her parents, nor did they try to explain it to her. She hated when people didnât explain things to her and she became very pouty towards her parents for a bit.
Morgan didnât understand when Tony decided to leave, but he promised her that theyâd go for a burger when he came back. Just the two of them. It had been a while since theyâd had a Daddy and Daughter Special Day, so she was excited. Every time she heard something outside, she would run to the window to see if Tony had returned. Then Pepper left with another stranger, promising her that she would be back with Daddy in a little bit.
Pepper eventually came back and Morgan instantly knew that something was wrong. She kept begging her mom for Tony, asking over and over where Daddy was. Pepper, with tears in her eyes, sat Morgan down and told her the news. This time Morgan was able to grasp it a lot easier than she was able to with Elizabeth. Her entire world was shattered and she instantly became inconsolable. Over the next few days leading up to the funeral, Morgan spent most of her time with Happy. He did everything he could to make things a little better for her, but nothing really worked.
Starting the day of the funeral, Happy pretty much took over being Morganâs father figure. He took her out for cheeseburgers, he sat front row with Pepper at her shows and recitals, he told her so many stories of Tony so that she would never forget him. He was a great man.
With Morgan starting kindergarten and Stark Industries working on entering another new field, Pepper decided that it was best to move them back to the city full time. Morgan was devastated over having to leave the cabin, but all the tears in the world couldnât sway her mother. Pepper was determined that she was going to go to the best school that she could find, which involved them moving back to the city. She didnât want to isolate Morgan even further from kids her own age and go with the original hybrid learning plan that she and Tony had decided on when moving to the cabin. She wanted Morgan in a real school and surrounded by her peers ( all of whom were also children of the rich and powerful ).
Despite Morganâs original objections, she really enjoyed school. She enjoyed the extra programs that the school put her in, she enjoyed the presence of other children, and it was kind of nice not to be alone all the time. Things started off really great and her first two years in school were amazing for her. She had a huge group of friends, she did well in her classes, and she was social.
However, things went downhill when she entered second grade. Not only did her teacher take an instant dislike to her, but so did a couple of sets of parents that had recently moved to the school. Sheâd won the elementary science fair for two years running, which was something that she was rightly proud of. The teacher and those parents took extreme offense to this, claiming that due to Morganâs close connections to Stark Industries, she had an unfair advantage over the other children. They got a lot more parents on their side and took their issue up with the principal and the school board. Despite Pepper fighting hard, they won. Morgan was banned from any and all science fairs going forward.
Morgan was devastated by this turn of events as the science fair for her age group was her absolute favorite thing in the world. She loved picking a project and then spending hours working on it, using only the allowed materials and not really getting help from Pepper or anyone else. It didnât help that a huge majority of her classmates turned on her ( some very viciously ), directed to do so by their parents. She became isolated and depressed, with only two kids refusing to budge on their friendship with her.
In third grade, they briefly allowed Morgan to try entering the science fair again. However, she had to follow a very, very strict set of guidelines. She was given a list of allowed materials and a list of very select projects to choose from, something that she gladly did. Morgan was honestly just happy that she was allowed to participate again, something that she feared that she would never again be able to do.
Unfortunately, the day of the science fair and despite doing everything that she was told, the parents that had originally protested Morganâs participation the year before once again interfered. She was disqualified in front of absolutely everyone, in an announcement just before the fair started. Morgan was crushed and Pepper was angry, but the young girl begged her mom not to do anything because it would only make the bullying from the other children worse.
Very little improved for Morgan over the years in this school and in life in general. While the bullying was toned down over the years due to various reasons, it still stuck with her. Morgan became distrustful of the majority of the kids her own age and older. It became worse as she got older and realized that a lot of them just wanted her around to try and secure better connections with her family. It angered and hurt her, knowing that they only wanted her connections and didnât care about her as a person.
The media and internet didnât help matters, as a lot of adults started sexualizing Morgan from a young age. Oh, what a pity that her eyes are so big! Oh, what a pity that sheâs thirteen and hasnât developed a chest yet! Too bad she didnât get her parentsâ good looks! and she heard it the other way as well. Sheâs so pretty! Sheâs going to have all the guys following her around! Oh, sheâs going to be a heartbreaker! Oh, we can see that once she gets out of her awkward stage, sheâs going to be the hottest kid around! Oh, we canât wait until she turns eighteen! Despite Pepperâs attempts to shield her from it, Morgan still heard it.
At twelve, Morgan started attending parties and began trying various drugs. It started off with the simple weed cigarette, then ( over the course of two years ) moved to harder things such as alcohol and pills. She soon became addicted to the feeling of escape from her mind, from the things that the media said about her, from the constant gnawing pain in the pit of her stomach. The escape was absolute bliss and it soon became all that she really wanted.
Morgan hid her growing addictions fairly well from Pepper, especially since her mother was so busy. Although, Happy did have his suspicions but could never quite prove anything. She kept her grades up, something that required little effort, and kept going to her usual activities. It wasnât until somewhere right in the middle of her fourteenth year and her fifteenth birthday that things began to spiral out of control. She began developing an attitude towards the authority figures in her life, began really pulling away from Pepper and Happy, and began losing interest in her hobbies.
Pepper and Happy fought with her, tried to put her in rehab, but nothing really stuck. They really began growing desperate once she met and began dating Kendra Waldorf, a beautiful and tragic teen Morganâs age. Morganâs mental health and addictions grew worse as the romance with Kendra began to grow more and more toxic. They were constantly fighting, constantly jealous of various things, and it was getting to the point where it became nearly physical on both of their sides. Still, both of them were deeply in love and were trying to make things work despite all of their problems.
It all came crashing down one horrific night. The weather was abysmal, they were both very much under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and Morgan decided to get behind the wheel of the car. Kendra started a fight over something that was posted on social media, distracting the already messed up Morgan, and then Morgan suddenly lost control of the car. It was over in a matter of minutes. Kendra was dead, flung out of the windshield due to not wearing a seatbelt. Morgan escaped the wreck without an injury due to dormant magical powers that no one knew that she had awakening, saving her life at the last possible second. When the light cleared and she left standing outside of the wrecked car, unharmed, she was shocked and horrified at the sight before her.
The media had an absolute field day with this, calling her a murderer and blaming her solely for the wreck. They said that they felt bad for poor Pepper, who had lost her hero of a husband and who had a killer for a daughter. They claimed that Tony would be absolutely ashamed of her. It didnât help that the Waldorfs and their team pushed this narrative as well, dragging Morganâs name through the mud and destroying her reputation. No one except Pepper knew about the magical aspect of Morgan's survival, of course. They all thought it was just sheer luck that she survived without a scratch. After all, weird things like that happen all the time.
A combination of severe depression and withdrawal from her addictions made Morgan very, very ill. Pepper knew that her daughter would die if she didnât get her some sort of help, but was worried about sending her to any known hospital. She was scared that someone there would sneak pictures of her or tell the media of Morganâs progress. On top of this, she was worried about Morgan's newfound magical abilities and the stability of them. She didn't know how powerful her daughter was and feared Morgan accidentally causing something similar to what Wanda caused in Westview so many years prior. Pepper knew that Morgan couldnât handle anymore accidents or pressure from the media, not in the state that she was currently in. So, she decided on the very extreme.
Pepper contacted Dr. Stephen Strange and arranged for Morgan to be sent to him, both to recover from her addictions and to learn how to at least have a basic control of her newfound magic. Strange was resistant at first, but they eventually came to an agreement. Strange, Morgan, and a few other staff members that Pepper hired to help made their way to a place outside of the United States via portal. Morgan was resistant, but there wasn't much that she could do in her weakened state.
The first couple of weeks under Strange and co.'s care was extremely touch and go. Her body was incredibly angry at the refusal of the addictions that she had so heavily depended on for years. She struggled through the withdrawals and found very little pity from those who were taking care of her. Morgan almost allowed herself to succumb to the pain and sickness, feeling horrible about what her addictions had led to.
However, in a fever induced hallucination, Tony came to her. Hallucination Tony was exactly like she remembered him, but he had some sharp words for her. He told her to stop feeling sorry for herself, to stop wallowing in her pain and grief. That, while her actions had led to something horrible, she was still alive and she still had a chance to live. Hallucination Tony didnât mince words and it made her realize exactly the kind of damage that sheâd left behind.
She began fighting to live, finally accepting the liquids, food, and medication without needing threats of being forced. Morgan had finally realized that Tony would be upset at what happened, but would be unbearably disappointed if she just simply gave up rather than trying to recover and face the consequences. She pushed herself, at times a bit too hard, to recover and get back on her feet. Despite the pain that she knew that she would face, she was determined to face it and make the memory of her father proud.
Within a couple of months, Morgan began to attend a heavy amount of therapy sessions along with Strange's lessons. She began working through the trauma of losing Tony, the trauma of her kidnapping and all subsequent attempts, and so much more. She was determined to become a better person and earn Pepperâs trust again.
A year after the accident, Morgan was summoned back to the âreal worldâ for her court date. She had been charged for manslaughter and driving under the influence, charges that she plead guilty for. Despite Pepper begging her to change her mind, Morgan refused. She took responsibility for what sheâd done, didnât make excuses, and openly cried as Kendraâs family did their victim impact statements. The media had a field day with her, although she did win a few internet commentators over with her refusal to back down from taking responsibility.
She wanted to do time behind bars, but the judge had other plans. He decided that since she pleaded guilty and owned up to her mistakes without hesitation and without trying to hide behind her family's name, he would show her leniency. He didn't send her to jail, but instead allowed her to serve her time at home as long as she continued to go to therapy and school. She felt guilty, but agreed. It was a four year plan and she never missed a check in date with her assigned officer, even going so far as to become friends with him and his family. At seventeen, she was a highschool graduate and began attending college in a hybrid learning plan.
She still spent a lot of her time away from the âreal worldâ at the hideaway that Pepper and Strange had created for her, finding her way there via the portals, focusing on both her mental and physical health. Along with focusing on mastering the basics of magic, this is also around the time that she began working on learning hand to hand combat, training with weapons, and started tinkering in her private lab again. She wanted to be able to protect herself from those who would threaten her, especially once she began taking over as CEO of Stark Industries.
By nineteen, she finished college with a four year degree and decided that she was going to try something new.
Morgan decided to have a little fun with the media and all of the internet commenters by getting into modeling. She couldnât tell what she enjoyed more: posing and looking pretty or all of the attention and compliments that she constantly got. Like Pepper before her, she was a natural in front of the camera. She could bring people in with a small mischievous smile or a bat of her eyelashes, something that tickled her pink.
Becoming a model and influencer helped Morgan in another area: reputation control. She openly spoke about her mental health issues and her former addictions, making sure to tell everyone the gritty truth. She didnât want to glamorize what she went through or make it seem desirable. She also began using what money that she now had access to in order to donate and help fund organizations that helped addicts, alcoholics, and individuals with various mental health issues seek help. She also made appearances across the country at schools and events, telling people her story and her struggles. Morgan never took money for these appearances, feeling that doing so would instantly destroy everything that she was trying to do. Besides, the Stark name had more money than they could handle anyway. What was she going to do with any paychecks?
Shortly after her twenty-second birthday, Pepper took her aside and asked Morgan if she was ready to learn the inâs and outâs of Stark Industries in preparation to eventually become CEO. Morgan eagerly agreed, viewing it as an entirely new challenge to tackle.
