TRIGGER WARNINGS:

murder, rape, necrophilia, death, blood, gore, knives, skinning people, violence, guns, drinking, drugs, cursing, insults, verbal abuse, torture, crime, bad shit.

Character Specific Rules:

1. All three movies are canon to an extent - I don't care if you don't like them or if you only like one of them. I know that 3 From Hell is especially polarizing to some fans, especially considering Sid's death. However, I liked elements from all three films ( The Devil's Rejects is my favorite ) and I consider all three canon. I also use images from all three films and will have headcanons from all points in Otis's life, including post 3 From Hell. I also really like Foxy, but that could be my fondness for Richard Brake in general talking.

2. On rape & necrophilia - Otis is a canonical rapist and necrophiliac. That's something that cannot be ignored or explained away, no matter how much I hate it or wish I could. However, I will not write these things out. They will be implied as they are a part of who he is as a character, but never blatantly written out. They will also never be implied against another writer's character as the only people that Otis assaults like this are women that he intends to kill. So if you're here just to get your rape fantasies off or think you can be a victim turned lover, no. That's not how Otis operates and those kind of storylines blatantly go against what's been established for his character in canon. Anyone who proposes a "victim turned lover" storyline will be blocked without further discussion.

3. Children OCs - Hahahaha no. Not without heavy discussion beforehand. Otis isn't the fatherly type and to think that he'd become the fatherly type just because some rando shows up claiming to be his kid is crazy.

4. Otis is a terrible person - That's literally the entire point of his and the rest of the Firefly family's characters. There are no redeeming qualities to them. The movies hammer home time and time again that they are evil. They kill and rob for fun. Otis violates the living and the dead. He skins people. They are terrible fucking people. I'm not here to excuse their actions and neither should you. Anyone trying to excuse their actions will be blocked.

5. Default time period - By default, Otis’s threads will take place in the 1980’s, post his escape from prison with Baby and Foxy. If you would like something more modern, you need to discuss it with me beforehand.

6. Shipping - Shipping is incredibly difficult with Otis. He is crude, rude, mean, a murderer, and an entire laundry list of other things. He’s not typically the one woman kind of man type, so “locking him down” is almost impossible. Also, his “love language” is insults, which most people take badly unless they know him well.

7. Headcanon driven - While Rob provided bios for several of the characters way back in the day, there are still huge gaps in Otis’s life. As such, a lot of it will be filled in with headcanon. 8. Trigger warnings - Please be aware that I won’t put trigger warnings on writing involving murder, blood, fighting, or weapons. However, I will put trigger warnings on implied skinning, rape, and necrophilia. All images will be tagged. My trigger tag style is mentioned in the general rules section if there’s anything specific that you need to blacklist.

Stats & Abilities

BASICS:

Birth Name: Unnamed
Aliases: Otis B. Driftwood, Whitey
Age: Verse dependent
Birthday: October 29, 1929
Birthplace: Wilmington, Delaware
Occupation: Murderer, car thief
Sexual & Romantic Orientation: Heterosexual / Heteroromantic

APPEARANCE:

Height: 6'0"
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Currently a mix of gray and white. Was dark brown when he was younger.
Note: Otis’s appearance changed greatly since House of 1,000 Corpses. He was originally portrayed as an albino with colorless white skin, and stringy white hair that was slightly patchy. However, for The Devil’s Rejects, his appearance was altered to that of a regular caucasian man and he also looked older in the second than he did in the first. For all intents and purposes, I will be going with his second appearance for RP appearances.

PERSONALITY:

Note: Otis’s personality was altered a bit for the second movie. In House of 1,000 Corpses, he was very over the top. For Devil’s Rejects, he was a bit calmer and far less over the top. However, he was also far more sadistic and depraved. For roleplaying purposes, I will be going in between the two personalities depending on verse, age, and the situation at hand.

Biography

For the first thirteen years of his life, Otis lived in utter misery. His parents abused and neglected him, not even bothering to give the child a name. At thirteen, he committed his first murder and went on the run. For many years, he wandered the country and went from job to job.

He eventually found his way to Ruggsville, Texas where he met a man named Cutter ( who would later become Captain Spaulding ). The two of them hit it off and Cutter brought Otis to live with his family that consisted of Cutter’s girlfriend Eve Wilson ( later Mama Firefly ), her two sons Rufus and Tiny, and her daughter Vera-Ellen ( whom Otis renamed Angel Baby ).

About ten years later, Baby and Otis left the farm together and traveled the country. They brutally murdered anyone in their path, happily cutting a bloody swath wherever they went. These murders would later become known as the “Son of Satan Murders.” Baby left him in 1976 and returned to the Firefly farm while Otis continued his murderous rampage. Eventually, Otis made his way back to Ruggsville and the Firefly farm in hopes of getting an old job back.

In House of 1,000 Corpses, Otis happily helped torment the wandering couples. He first came downstairs during dinner, carrying Mama Firefly’s baby “Little Wolf” either in order to make her happy, creep out the couples, or both. He and Tiny were the ‘scarecrows’ that attacked the couples as they tried to leave. He killed Bill and turned him into a work of ‘art’ that he called “Fishboy.” He then tormented Mary by showing her Bill’s corpse.

When Denise tried to escape the basement after Tiny untied her, he caught her and tossed her headlong into a cage filled with other traumatized and broken victims. He later kills Denise’s father Don Willis and wears his skin, teasing and taunting Denise with it. He later appeared in Spaulding’s car, placing a knife at Denise’s neck and dragging her back to the house for more torment.

In Devil’s Rejects, he helped lead the firefight against the cops when they hit the Firefly farm. After the cops broke in and started shooting up the place, he grabbed Baby’s hand and led her out of the house and to safety. The only time that Otis is calm or remotely nice is when they’re at Charlie’s place and he’s talking to one of his prostitutes, Candy. He’s sincerely upset at her death, having taken quite a liking to her.

At the end of the film, he wakes up Spaulding and Baby and hands them each a gun. He hits the gas and starts shooting at the cops, despite knowing that they possibly couldn’t survive.

Verses

BEFORE THE FAMILY:

v: a nameless misery

This takes place from the time Otis is a small child to the time that he’s 13 years old. He’s a nameless child, prone to stealing various things like food and clothing and getting into fights with local kids. When his parents aren’t ignoring him, they’re yelling and beating him. This verse ends after his first murder[s].

v: the dark drifter

This verse takes place from the time that he’s 13 to the time that he’s 35 years old. This chronicles the time that Otis left Delaware to the time that he finds himself in Ruggsville and working with Cutter / Captain Spaulding.

THE FAMILY:

v: the fireflys

Otis has been unofficially adopted by the woman that he eventually renamed “Mama Firefly.” He’s very protective of his new family, happy to finally be a part of something. He settled in quickly on the farm, carving a place for himself among this group of misfits.

v: blood soaked travelers

Otis and Baby are wandering the states, cutting down and torturing anyone in their way. They’re having a lot of fun, especially with Otis teaching Baby everything he knows.

v: nowhere like home

Otis has returned to the Firefly farm and has settled himself back into his old routine. He’s gotten his rooms back and has buried himself once more into his artwork. This verse takes place from the time that Otis returns, covers the events of House of 1000 Corpses, and ends the day before the start of the events of The Devil’s Rejects.

ON THE RUN:

v: doing the devil’s work

Baby, Cutter / Spaulding, and Otis are all on the run from authorities ever since the raid on the Firefly farm. This takes place in 1978 and covers the events of The Devil’s Rejects.

v: the devil’s chosen

Foxy Winslow has managed to break Otis out of prison singlehandedly shortly after Cutter’s execution. Together, the two of them formulate a plan to free Baby and the three of them go on the run from authorities. They flee to Mexico where they find themselves in the crosshairs of a man searching for revenge. This covers the events of 3 From Hell.

v: highway to hell

Baby, Foxy, and Otis are on the run again. Mexico wasn’t exactly working out for them, so they’re back in the states since the heat has died down a little bit. This takes place after the events of 3 From Hell and is Otis’s default verse.

AU VERSES:

v: just a dream

The shoot out with the cops was a pain induced dream in either Baby or Spaulding’s mind. Otis somehow managed to turn the car around and they got away with minimal injuries.. They’re on the run, moving from place to place and leaving a trail of blood in their wake. This is an AU end to The Devil’s Rejects.

v: driftwood’s pussycats

Due to the amount of heat coming down on them, Otis parted ways from Baby and Cutter in order to briefly lure attention away from them so that they could rest and recover. That was five years prior and Otis hasn’t seen or heard from them since. Otis now owns his own brothel, a perfect front for his darker activities. He has girls that both live in the same house with him and those who merely do their business there and leave. The girls that live there are the ones that Otis trusts the most, the ones who know his secret and help him protect it. He treats his girls decently and pays them a good chunk of their earnings so that they can support themselves easily.
